Bold. Barrel-Aged.
Sour-Hollered.
And a Bit Loud.

Let Bad Shepherd lead you down a wild, wonderful, and refreshingly weird path of beer exploration.

We brew small batches in the heart of urban Appalachia in downtown Charleston, West Virginia.

Our Beers

Bad Shepherds don’t like long walks on the beach, but they do like long, strange trips wandering into seasonal trail magic as well as burying their brewed treasures in flavor-filled wine, gin and bourbon barrels.

In the Wild

From the airports and golf courses to ski slopes, music venues and whitewater resorts, Bad Shepherd Beer is on tap around West Virginia.

LAWSON’S REVENGE!! We’re rolling out some kegs of a special tribute beer to Patrick Lawson, who passed away in 2019. Back in 2018, Lawson, a regular at the brewery with his friend Eric Newhouse, gave Bad Shep brewer Ross Williams, a motherlode of Carolina Reaper peppers. Ross carefully dried them in the boiler room and saved them in jars. Lawson’s Revenge uses just five peppers in the whole batch, to create a mild zing and lingering heat. In keeping with the Chelada tradition, this 6.8% beer features fresh lime puree, salt-fermented lemons, and Citra hops.
In Patrick’s honor we raise a glass and present - Lawson's Revenge - on tap now in Charleston and at other craft beer cantinas and outposts around the Mountain State
